Akor Adams & Ejuke return to Sevilla squad for Alavés La Liga tie

Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has welcomed back Nigerian forwards Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke ahead of their La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés. Both players had been sidelined with muscle injuries but are now fit to make the matchday squad.

Adams missed Sevilla’s last two games after sustaining a thigh issue, while Ejuke was forced off early in the match against Girona due to a similar muscular setback.  Their return is seen as a boost, offering more attacking options for Almeyda, especially after Sevilla have struggled to find consistent form so far this season.

Also in the squad after recovering is Rubén Vargas, who left the last game with cramp but appears ready to feature again.  The only confirmed absentee remains Joan Jordán, still working his way back to full fitness following spine surgery.

We view the return of Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke as a timely lift for Sevilla’s squad. A team that has had to contend with injury woes early in the season now finds itself with greater depth up front—a luxury that can make the difference in tight La Liga matchups.

Adams, in particular, brings size, presence, and goal-threat. His was felt when Sevilla lacked a clear focal point in attack. Ejuke’s pace and technical ability offer balance and variation, especially against teams likely to sit deep or counter. With both fit again, Almeyda has more tactical flexibility; he can rotate, change formation, or bring fresh legs without compromising quality.

Rubén Vargas’s recovery adds further intrigue. His return enhances options in wider areas and potentially allows Almeyda to restore attacking width. Meanwhile, the continued absence of Joan Jordán is unfortunate, but the squad looks better equipped to manage without him for now.
